Don’t Sleep on This: Unconditional a Must See!

Every once in a while there’s a pleasant surprise. In a world of so much hype – it’s easy to be skeptical when people tell you to go see this movie or go read this book. Yada, Yada… well, this movie, UNCONDITIONAL, was sooo good.

A real tear jerker and heart-felt movie. 5 stars!

It’s a faith-based film – but not cheesy or “preachy.”

Though this was the first major movie from Harbinger Media Parnters (without the major studio budget), I was blown away by the quality. Great scenes on film, good dialog, believable characters – and perfect casting.

I love Michael Ealy. (The main male character pictured here). I hope he gets nominated for something with the role he played.

Typically good movies like this are books first – usually bestsellers are turned into movies, like The Secrets Life of Bees or Waiting to Exhale or The Color Purple. But this movie was done first – and then the author wrote the novel! How cool is that?

And guess what? I met the author! Eva Marie Everson. We were both speaking at the Maranatha’s Christian Writers Conference and she told me the story.

(And you know the book is always better than the movie – can you imagine?) OMG!

God is really doing something here.

The novel in a nutshell, which was released September 1, 2012, (same time as the movie): Samantha Crawford, an acclaimed storybook artist, seemingly had it all until losing the love she cherished most. Now fighting despair, she is obsessed with tracking down the murderer of her husband. With no leads and no hope, Sam prepares to take her life until providence intervenes and she is reunited with her childhood friend, Joe Bradford.

Dying of kidney disease, Joe spends his last days serving fatherless children in an under resourced community. Observing Papa Joe’s tireless love for “his kids,” Sam begins to find new purpose until she comes face to face with her heart’s desire. The innocence and hope of a child competes with the lure of revenge in an effort to show Sam how, even in life’s darkest of circumstances, Love is above all.
